Questions we get a lot

How do I pay?

By card, online, when you place your order. Payment is handled by Stripe, so we never see your card details, and your receipt is emailed to you the moment it goes through.

We no longer ask for deposits or e-transfers. You pay once and you're done.

Where do you deliver, and what does it cost?

Airdrie and north Calgary. Delivery is a flat $9.99, and it's free on orders over $120. Pickup from our kitchen in Airdrie is always free.

If you're outside that area, give us a call — we can sometimes work something out for larger orders.

How long will my order take?

About an hour for a normal order. Nothing is pre-cooked and sitting in a warmer, so the clock starts when you press pay.

Family trays need 24 hours' notice. When your order includes one, we'll call you to agree a time.

How spicy is the food, really?

Nigerian food is properly seasoned, and some dishes — pepper soup, nkwobi, peppered goat — are genuinely hot at our house level.

Every dish lets you choose mild, medium or hot when you order. Mild is gentle and still full of flavour. If you're new to this, start mild and work up. Nobody will judge you.

I've never eaten Nigerian food. What should I order?

Start with jollof rice. It's smoky, savoury and comes with a protein and a side, so it's a complete plate and nothing about it will surprise you.

Feeling braver? Order Ofe Owerri with pounded yam. That's our signature and the reason the kitchen exists. Or try the Build your plate tool on our home page.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Some, but be aware that most of our soups are built on meat, fish and crayfish stock, and many contain dried fish or ogiri even when the name sounds vegetable-based.

Jollof rice and fried rice can be made without protein, and dodo, moi moi, coleslaw and chin chin are meat-free. For anything stricter, call us before ordering and we'll tell you honestly what we can and can't do.

I have an allergy. Can you accommodate me?

Tell us in the notes box when you order, and call us as well if it's serious. Peanuts (in yaji/suya spice), fish, shellfish and crayfish are used widely in our kitchen, and we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

We would much rather turn an order down than take a risk with your health.

Can you cater my event?

Yes, and it's one of our favourite things to do. Family trays come in three sizes serving roughly 4–6, 8–12 and 15–20 people, and you can order any soup on our menu by the tray.

For birthdays, naming ceremonies, weddings and office lunches, call us at least 48 hours ahead and we'll build you a quote. Larger orders get a better price.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Call us straight away on (825) 488-0936. If we haven't started cooking, we'll refund you in full. Once your food is on the stove we can't undo it, because it was made specifically for you.

Do you have a dining room?

Not yet. We're a kitchen that cooks for pickup and delivery. You're very welcome to collect in person — just don't come expecting a table.
